Chris
Ellis is a singer/songwriter who hails from Morgan Hill, Ca. In
addition to singing and writing songs, Chris plays bass, keyboard
and violin.
Back in the 1990s, Chris played with the original band "The Tearmagnets" lovingly
called "the most almost-signed band in show biz". With the Tearmagnets, Chris
has warmed up stages for the likes of Clarence Clemmons, Rik Emmett, Rory Gallagher,
Tony McAlpine. Ronnie Montrose, Dave Mineketti, and others.
Just prior to the Tearmagnets, Chris studied bass with Myron Dove, Santana's
former bassist.
Most recently, Chris has returned to her childhood love, the violin. The classical
studies of the past have been replaced by original songs which lean heavily toward
latin, jazz and blues.
Chris Ellis Limited Edition Live is Chris's first solo CD. It has been recorded
from selected performances. On this CD, most of the songs contain just Chris
on vocals and keyboards. Once these CDs are sold, they will not be available
again. |
"She's
Not A Nice Girl" is Chris's first studio CD created with her own
band. This CD provides a look into Chris' insightful lyrics and infectious
melodies.
Some of Chris' favorite songs are on this CD including "She's
Not A Nice Girl" which is a biting, sardonic commentary on
a certain personlity type. "Is That You?' is a song written
about a drug abuser and how it affects those around him. Of all
the songs on the CD, "Sophie" is Chris' favorite. It
is a touching song about the loss of a loved one and brings into
stark reality the question as to whether it is better to hold onto
a painful memory or try to escape it by forgetting. "The Other
Side of Heartache" is a
song about getting past a difficult point in life.

The
Tearmagnets are a unique blend of three very specific talents.
Oliver Harris is on guitar and vocals. He has been hailed as one
of the Bay Area's unsung guitar heroes in BAM Magazine in 1989.
Oliver plays guitar like you've never heard anyone play. He creates
on the spot with an unparalleled brilliance.
Dennis Dove is on drums and vocals. Dennis is one of the finest, most precise
drummers in the Bay Area. Dennis also sings and is a cross between Luciano Pavarrotti
and Marvin Gaye. He is a truly gifted musician all around. Dennis has played
with Archie Lee Hooker as well as many other distinguished acts.
Chris Ellis is on bass and vocals. You may know Chris from her solo projects
as well as from the band Throwing Roses. Chris is a female bass player who has
played with jazz great Jules Broussard and distinguished country musician Fred
McCarty. Chris studied under the tutelage of Myron Dove, formerly of Santana.
Together the Tearmagnets have warmed up stages for the likes of Clarence Clemmons,
Dave Meniketti, Rik Emmett, Tony McAlpine, Ronnie Montrose and others.
